With just over two weeks to go, competitors and organisers alike are gearing up for what will surely be another thrilling season of supermoto action.
The easing of lockdown restrictions has seen a welcome return to track action for riders with two recent trackdays being held at Teesside Autodrome and Three Sisters Race Circuit respectively, these events provided strong evidence that the long Winter months under lockdown had created an insatiable appetite to for riders to be given the opportunity to return to track action.
The weekend of 24th – 25th April will see the championship begin its season at Three Sisters Race Circuit in Ashton and Makerfield where already entries from riders both seasoned and newcomers are flowing in, so it is looking likeyet another season of packed grid line ups across all classes.
Reigning ACU British Supermoto Champion Chris Hodgson will be keen to retain his title and equally so will be National Champion Jordan Bannon. Heading into the 2021 season there are many names to watch out for in the ranks of up-and-coming riders, with the likes of the ‘Wigan Whippet’ young Casey Jones who will once again be running in the Elite level of the sport.
Hot on the pace are a group of other young riders, including Alex Mullaney, Ben Bayfield, Josh Jasper, Lewis Hardy, Riley Ritchies, Harley Sharp and Scarlett Robinson who will all be showing their abilities out on track with the ultimate aim to reach the peak of the sport.
The British Supermoto Championship prides itself on the breeding ground it creates for up-and-coming talent, and the 2021 Championship would be delighted to welcome even more riders to the paddock. Supermoto can be one of the most cost-effective entry level bikesports and with a supportive and friendly paddock newcomers always are always offered assistance from fellow competitors.
The NoraSport Championship provides classes for total novices (Give it a Go Class), lites class (up to 250cc) Ladies Championship, National and Clubman, Two Stoke, Academy (Juniors) Over 45s and of course the top level of Elite riders.
If you feel you are not quite ready for racing, then why not try one of the many trackdays on offer and hopefully you will progress from ‘Trackday to Raceday’ as confidence grows. More information can be found at www.norasport.co.uk or www.supermotouk.com
Regrettably and with compliance with current Covid 19 restrictions spectator access is not possible, but don’t despair……if you want to keep up with the action a series of ‘Live Feeds’ will be broadcast on Sunday 25th April and again more details will be released via the previous mentioned websites.
